Although Hashem bestows success in abundance – like the wide opening of the entrance hall [of the Beis Hamikdash] – we need to do our part – to open up an opening the size of the tip of the needle. This is especially true regarding correcting one’s emotional faculties, which is one of the main responsibilities for which the soul descends from a high rooftop to a deep pit.
אף אשר השם יתברך נותן הצלחה כפתחו של אולם, הרי על
האדם לפתוח על כל פנים כחודו של מחט, ובפרט בענין תקון
