Due to the large number of guests seeking to visit the Rebbe‘s Ohel, organizers of the daily Ohel bus have announced that for the first time, the bus will operate on Chol Hamoed.
Although the custom is not to go to a cemetery on Rosh Chodesh or Chol Hamoed, going to the Rebbe at the Ohel is deemed different than going to a beis hachayim.
Over the years many Chassidim have been going to the Ohel on Rosh Chodesh, and the Rebbe himself went to the Ohel a few times on Rosh Chodesh and on Chol Hamoed.
Rabbi Hershel Feigelstock, a shliach and educator in Montreal, shared that during one of his trips to the Rebbe for yomtov, he asked the Rebbe if it was appropriate for him to visit the Ohel of the Frierdiker Rebbe on Chol Hamoed.
The Rebbe’s response was that “If you consider it like going to a cemetery, then on these days you shouldn’t go to a cemetery. But, if you hold that the Rebbe just moved a few blocks away, but it’s the same as the Rebbe is in 770, then you can go.”
The bus schedule is as follows:
10:30 AM – Crown Heights to Ohel
12:10 PM – Ohel to Crown Heights
