New York City is offering youth ages 16 to 24 the opportunity to earn up to $2,550 this summer through the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). This initiative provides paid work experience for thousands of young people across the city in a wide range of jobs with approved employers.  

Last year, SYEP served 100,000 youth across New York City, with many frum participants working in summer camps. This is a unique opportunity for both bochurim and girls, as well as the frum day camps and overnight camps.

This year, the program runs for six weeks, with participants working 25 hours per week. Registration runs from January 20 to February 27.

For those in Brooklyn’s Jewish community, the Council of Jewish Organizations of Flatbush, Inc. is the preferred provider. Both workers and employers must register with the same provider to participate.  

Applicants must submit key documents, including a birth certificate, Social Security card, and a utility bill. It is crucial to receive confirmation that the application has been successfully submitted.  

Payments come directly from the NYC government. Additionally, a separate program is available for 14- and 15-year-olds, offering up to $700 for participation for 12.5 hours per week.
