Soon after arriving back in Europe after a visit to Eretz Yisroel in the summer of 5689/1929, the Frierdiker Rebbe was on his way to the United States. America was the originally intended destination; the trip to Eretz Yisroel had been added at the “last minute.”

The Frierdiker Rebbe arrived on these shores on 12 Elul, and remained in New York for the rest of Elul and the Yomim Nora’im.

Author Rabbi Chaim Dalfin, himself a native of Boro Park and a current resident, retraces the steps of the Frierdiker Rebbe, beginning with his stay in Boro Park at the home of the chossid Reb Eliyohu (Yaichel) Simpson at 14th Avenue and 46th Street.
