Montreal Gym Transformed into Rebbetzin ‘Story Walk’

The typical sounds of recess were replaced by a hum of focused learning at YTTL Montreal on Chof Beis Shevat, as the gym was transformed into an immersive educational experience.

On the auspicious day of 22 Shvat, the typical sounds of recess were replaced by a hum of focused learning at YTTL Montreal, as the gym was transformed into an immersive educational experience.

To mark the yahrtzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka, and in the spirit of “ve’hachai yiten el libo”, grades 2 through 6 gathered for a unique program. Organizers turned the large space into a “Story Walk,” featuring 16 distinct vignettes, adapted from a special JEM curriculum, all about the Rebbetzin. These stories were posted around the perimeter of the room, creating a circuit of inspiration and life lessons for the students to explore.

The boys were given a specific mission: armed with a checklist of “one-line life lessons,” they had to navigate the room, read the stories carefully, and match the correct lesson to the corresponding narrative.

The atmosphere in the room was a blend of excitement and concentration. The older grades took on the challenge independently, moving from station to station and debating which lesson fit best. Meanwhile, the younger classes moved through the circuit as a group, guided by their teachers.

“It was amazing to watch them running around, reading, and really connecting to the Rebbetzin,” said one of the organizers. “You could see them stopping to think about the stories and how they apply to their own lives.”

The event concluded with a special raffle, cementing the connection to the day with a tangible act.

A hearty Mazal Tov goes to the winners: S. Shuchat, M. Lesches, and C. New.

The winners received a prize of $4.70. This number corresponds to the Gematria (numerical value) of the name “Chaya Mushka” (470). This was done to facilitate the boys fulfilling the Rebbe’s specific directive to give Tzedakah in amounts of 470 on this holy day.

A big thank you to Rabbi Bresinger for organizing this beautiful event.
