The Monsey Lubavitch community took action following recent events in Pittsburgh and Poway and hosted defense expert Roy Adams to teach how to respond in the case of an active shooter, r”l.
K’hal Tzemach Tzedek Lubavitch hosted Mr. Adams, a veteran of both the US Army and the Rochester Police Department who has dedicated his 40-year career to training civilians, police and military.
Mr. Adams and his associate Rich showed all kinds of examples of what any person can do to deter a would-be shooter and resist. “Sitting back and doing nothing is not an option,” he said. You need to stand up and try to stop him with whatever you can.” He showed many examples oh how day-to-day objects, well within reach of any person in any setting, can help deter any would-be attacker, especially in a group setting like a shul or school.
He showed how staying calm and taking note of your surroundings can be of great help, as people tend to panic in the face of danger and make the wrong decisions as far as how to get out of that situation.
The video and presentation is highly recommended, and is appropriate for any community to host.
Special thanks to Mr. Yitchok Labovitch for arranging the event.
