Knesset Member and Israel’s Minister of Heritage, Rabbi Amichai Eliyahu, addressed Anash and bochurim in 770 on Tuesday night during his visit to New York. Rabbi Menachem Gerlitzky presented him with a special dollar from the Rebbe.

Knesset Member and Israel’s Minister of Heritage, Rabbi Amichai Eliyahu, addressed Anash and bochurim in 770 on Tuesday night during his visit to New York.

Rabbi Eliyahu is a grandson of the Rishon LeTzion and Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, Harav Mordechai Eliyahu a”h. Rabbi Eliyahu attended a Chabad school in his youth, and he maintains a warm, longstanding relationship with Chabad. He previously visited 770 and the Ohel two and a half years ago.

In recent months, he has spearheaded an initiative to establish an official heritage center dedicated to the Rebbe, highlighting the legacy of Chabad and its shluchim worldwide. The planned center will enable hundreds of thousands of visitors to glimpse and connect with the Rebbe’s teachings and be inspired by the Rebbe’s global impact.

On Tuesday evening, Minister Eliyahu visited 770, where he davened Ma’ariv before addressing the large crowd gathered for the Siyum HaRambam on the halachos of shegagos and the beginning of hilchos bechoros. 

He spoke warmly of the deep connection his grandfather shared with the Rebbe and of his own commitment to the cause of shleimus ha’aretz.

Following his remarks, which were received with great warmth, Minister Eliyahu was presented with a special dollar from the Rebbe by Siyum organizer Rabbi Menachem Gerlitzky.
