In 5711, the Chief Rabbinate of Israel established the 10th Teves as a General Kaddish Day. The reason for the establishment was that many of the kedoshim killed during the Holocaust don’t have a known yartzeit. The General Kaddish Day was meant to give their relatives a day to memorialize the kedoshim by saying kaddish, light a yartzeit licht, learn Mishnayos and other customs practiced on a yartzeit.

The Rebbe never directly addressed the Rabbanite’s decision to establish the General Kaddish Day. The Rebbe’s possible views on the matter were explored by Anash.org in an article titled Is Today The ‘Frum Yom Hashoah’?

  1. The pictures are moving and hauntingly beautiful. It would be nice to have text describing what the significance is of the pictures. I for one would love to understand their meaning in regards to the holocaust.
