The former Sefardic Chief Rabbi, the Rishon LeZion, Rav Eliyahu Bakshi-Doron, who passed away Sunday evening, 19 Nissan, at the age of 79, was a good friend of Chabad in Eretz Yisrael and around the world.
He held the position of Rishon Lezion from 5753-5763/1993-2003, replacing Rav Mordechai Eliyahu. His Ashkenazi counterpart was yblch”t Rav Yisroel Meir Lau.
Over the years, his travels in Eretz Yisrael and the world over made him encounter the work of Chabad and the Shluchim.
We present a gallery of Rav Bakshi-Doron at Chabad events and institutions.

“at the Yeshiva Gedola Lubavitch of London in 5776/1996”
Just to point out that 5776 was not 1996.
Thank you for correcting the mistake.
