This past Friday in honor of Chamisha Asar B’aav camp Gan Israel Montreal marked a milestone by having ALL 274 campers wake up early to take part in the “cocoa club” program.
Cocoa club is a program that encourages campers to wake up early and learn Mishnayos and Tanya by heart, before the regular daily schedule begins. Campers who attend each earn personal prizes and bunk prizes.
This year’s program is run by the camps Mishnayos Baal Peh Director Menachem Wagner who has set up a program of incentives to encourage campers to come, Building the whole Mishnayos Baal Peh program around the theme of chess.
Each camper receives a personal ID card which displays the rank he is holding starting from beginner going all the way up to a grand master. Campers receive various prizes and benefits throughout camp based on which rank they are holding, including marshmallows in their cocoa, nosh and drinks by IHE and plays, nosh on trips, and so on and so forth.
There is no way this could have been done without the help of the dedicated staff and a big “Yasher Koach” to all the staff who have done a tremendous job encouraging all the kids to come and participate.
That’s the sign of a talented and dedicated MBP director! Looks very organized!
Go Menachem, Mazel Tov!
