Eli Amsalem, a Chabad mekurav in the Netzach Yehuda battalion, was killed while fighting in Gaza.
He was 21 years old.
In 2015, his family immigrated from France to Eretz Yisroel, joining the French-speaking Chabad community in Ranana under shliach Rabbi Mendel Maimon. He had been on two Cteen trips to New York, and he visited the Rebbe’s Ohel shortly before the outbreak of the Gaza War. He would learn Chitas regularly from the French ‘Dvar Malchus’ booklet, and he put tefillin on his fellow soldiers.
Eli fought in the Netzach Yehuda battalion under Yisroel Yudkin HYD who was also killed along with another soldier. He fell while carrying with him his Dvar Malchus booklet.
He is survived by his parents Jacques (Yitzchak) and Alexandra Amsalem, a brother and a sister.
