Everyone knows what to do if you forget Yaaleh Veyavo on Rosh Chodesh. But what if you mistakenly said it on a regular day? This and other questions of mistakes in davening are addressed in a new book by Harav Gedalya Oberlander.

The scene is familiar. A minute into shmone esrei on Rosh Chodesh, someone in shul says the opening words of Yaaleh Veyavo out loud. Around the shul, heads nod, pages turn, and some step back to restart shmone esrei.
Other mistakes in davening, however, are not as common. What if one were to start saying Yaaleh Veyavo on a regular weekday? How about if one starts davening a Shabbos tefilla on a Tuesday? What if one started weekday davening on a Yom Tov?
The nature of such questions usually requires immediate answers. When stuck with a question in middle of davening, one does not have the time to go ask a rov, or pull out some seforim. The problem is further compounded by the fact that many do not even know where to start looking for the answers. Is it Hilchos Tefillah? Perhaps Hilchos Yom Tov? Maybe it’s somewhere in the Siddur?
The newly reprinted sefer ‘B’nesivos Hatefillah’ comes to solve exactly these issues.
The sefer, authored by Harav Gedalya Oberlander, rov of Heichal Menachem in Monsey, NY, and a member of Vaad Rabbonei Lubavitch, complies any issue which may arise during davening and presents the solutions in a clear and lucid format.
Originally printed in a small format, Harav Oberlander rewrote almost the entire sefer, with the end result being a sefer many times the size of the original, including many pages of new material.
Besides for the halachos of davening contained within, the sefer also contains halachos of mistakes in bentching, hadlakas neiros, Krias Hatorah, Haftorah, and other relevant halachos.
Of particular interest are questions that are especially applicable during the pandemic era. When davening at home, or at a porch minyan, additional questions can arise. B’nesivos Hatefillah is the sefer to have handy to know what to do in any situation.
