Bondi Hero Visits the Ohel with Australia’s Former PM
In his first trip since the Bondi attack, Hatzolah volunteer Yanky Super visited the Ohel to daven and thank Hashem for the miracles. Joining him was Kevin Rudd, former Prime Minister of Australia and currently Australia’s ambassador to the United States.
Hatzolah volunteer Yanky Super visited the Ohel early this morning in his first trip there since surviving the terror attack at Bondi Beach, coming to daven and give thanks for the nissim that saved his life. Joining him was Kevin Rudd, former Prime Minister of Australia and currently Australia’s ambassador to the United States, who accompanied him during the visit.
Yanky’s recovery has been closely followed by many around the world since he was seriously wounded in the attack. Among the first victims struck, he was shot from behind, suffering severe internal injuries, including a collapsed lung. He underwent major surgery followed by several additional procedures, spending just twelve days in the hospital before being miraculously released to continue his recovery at home.
His survival was marked by a number of remarkable hashgacha protis. The bullet that struck him was partially slowed by his radio equipment, preventing even more severe injury, and an off-duty Jewish doctor arrived at the hospital in time to take part in the lifesaving treatment.
After his discharge, Yanky returned home to begin the long process of regaining his strength, surrounded by family and friends. He also returned to the site of the attack, where he recited the bracha “She’asa li neis,” and sang songs of praise.
At the Ohel today, he expressed gratitude to Hashem for the miracles that carried him through the ordeal and for the many people around the world who davened on his behalf.
