The main Shul downstairs 770 will now be opened only for davening and leining, and all will be required to maintain proper social distancing and to wear a mask the entire time, according to a new directive by the Shul’s gabboim.

To prevent people from sitting around and to give enough space for proper social, all benches were removed from the Shul this morning. Everyone is requested to leave immediately after davening and not linger around.

In order to make sure that all masks will be worn the entire time, a shipment of 25,000 masks was just delivered to 770. The gabboim will be distributing masks before each davening to anyone who is in need.

Anash.org has learned that the Shul’s Gabboim are exploring various options to reduce capacity for Rosh Hashana davening. Seats will be available only to those who have paid in advance, and no further seats will be sold. (It is estimated that only half the seats are being sold this year).

According to the latest update from the Gedalia society, the past few days has seen multiple new cases of COVID here in Crown Heights, both in residents and those from out of town. Representing the first surge in cases since Purim.

In a recent phone call between the Crown Heights Beis Din and a community member regarding 770, Harav Yosef Yeshaya Braun stated unequivocally: Everything the doctors order is compulsory.

“The rabbonim have sent out countless letters, and it is becoming impossible to repeat,” the rov said. “Everything is dependent on the doctors. If they ask the public to keep away from something, consider that thing treif.”
