In what can only be described as a remarkable display of hashgacha protis, the famed Likras Shabbos weekly booklet is marking its 1,000th issue on the week of Yud Tes Kislev.

Launched 20 years ago, the weekly booklets bring the Rebbe’s Torah on the parsha to shuls across the globe. With multiple columns presenting different facets of the Rebbe’s teachings, Likras Shabbos speaks to a wide audience, from those looking for a short vort to readers seeking a deeper, more analytical exploration.

For 1,000 consecutive weeks, these booklets have been published and distributed in shuls and yeshivos throughout the frum world and around the globe. Many of its popular columns were later expanded into full seforim, further broadening their impact.

“As we mark this tremendous milestone of 1,000 issues, we felt we had to increase our efforts and take advantage of every opportunity to grow, as the Rebbe constantly emphasized,” says Rabbi Avrohom Mann, director of Or HaChassidus, which produces the booklet.

To fulfill that ambition, Likras Shabbos is being upgraded and expanded to reach an even wider audience. The booklet has undergone a complete redesign, and its content will now include new sections and greater variety.

In addition, the Or HaChassidus team is launching a new initiative: to double the distribution of the weekly booklet.

“The goal is to reach, by Yud Shevat, 1,000 new yeshivas and shuls around the world, on top of the hundreds already receiving it each week.”

The team emphasizes that achieving this goal will require the active involvement of Anash and shluchim in each location.

“Of course, there will be dedicated distributors helping lead the effort, but we need every member of Anash to take part,” they said. 

“We are confident that expanding the reach of the booklet will deepen the study of Chassidus, bring much nachas to the Rebbe, and bring us closer to the ultimate goal: the coming of Moshiach, speedily.”
