This Purim, over two thousand young Shluchim connected with one another to pack and ship their very own Mishloach Manos to each other.
This year marks 20 years of ‘Mishloach Manos Mania’, a project of the Shluchim Office which matches up children of Shluchim from around the world.
“Thank you for arranging the special Mishloach Manos exchange,” wrote Rabbi Eli and Sara Reyder, Shluchim to Myrtle Beach, SC. “It was very meaningful for our children to prepare Mishloach Manos to other children they know are on Shlichus just like them. It was also so much fun and exciting for them to receive their own packages!”
This beautiful initiative creates new friends, long-lasting connections and a boundless sense of Ahavas Yisroel between fellow young Shluchim that transcends the distance between one another.
“Last year my 3 year old was paired up with Rikki from Boise, Idaho and they kept in touch after the Shalach Manos exchange,” shared Mrs. Sara Bluming, Shlucha to Potomac, MD. “Now they are the best of friends! They chat with each other on WhatsApp and can’t wait to meet in person but for now they have a very social and active 4 year old chat, it’s the cutest and funniest thing ever. Thanks for starting their friendship!”
This year over 2,316 packages were sent and received around the world – from Argentina to England and even Australia – making it the program’s largest turnout yet.
A debt of eternal gratitude is owed to Rabbi Mendel Shemtov, a”h, who, with vision and generosity, pioneered the Chinuch Yaldei Hashluchim project and facilitated its growth to ever greater heights. May the merit of these programs serve as a perpetual source of nachas ruach to his neshomo on high.
