YK Yerushalayim Concludes Another Incredible Summer

This summer, 40 Bochurim experienced an unforgettable summer at Yeshivas Kayitz Yerushalayim, temporarily relocated to Cozumel, Mexico. The program was filled with incredible trips, engaging learning, and a vibrant Chassidishe atmosphere, with most participants completing an entire Masechta.

YK Yerushalayim continued its tradition of excellence by providing a dynamic and Chassidishe environment for Mesivta-aged Bochurim, fostering growth in both learning and Chassidishkeit. This year, an impressive 30 Bochurim completed the entire Maseches Megillah, culminating in a special Siyum held on a rooftop overlooking Cozumel and the Caribbean Sea. To celebrate, the Bochurim were treated to a thrilling Jet Ski and Scuba Diving adventure.

Under the leadership of Rabbis Shmuel Schneerson and Yosef Avtzon, mechanchim in Chabad Yeshivas in Los Angeles, the program offered structured learning, Mivtzahs, extracurricular activities, Farbrengens, and unforgettable trips. The Yeshivas Kayitz was hosted graciously by Chabad of Cozumel, led by Rabbi Dudi Caplin.

The learning sessions featured a unique selection of Maamorim chosen by Mashpiim, tailored Shiurim on Maseches Megillah, and an innovative curriculum that covered various topics, including the historical development of the Talmud and Halacha, as well as the practical application of Chassidus in modern life.

A special Mivtzah called “Vugen” motivated Bochurim to adopt Chassidishe Hanhagos, with points awarded for both basic and more challenging customs. Impressively, every Bochur in the program participated in this Mivtzah!

In addition to the enriching learning experience, the Bochurim enjoyed once-in-a-lifetime adventures unique to Mexico, including snorkeling in the world’s second-largest reef, jungle horseback riding, swimming with dolphins, Jeeping, ATVing, Ziplining, biking, Scuba Diving, swimming with Stingrays, and a private tour of a secluded Cenote in Tulum. Sports leagues and other activities rounded out the program.

The summer concluded with a grand four-day trip across the mainland, with stops in Tulum, Playa Del Carmen, Cancun, and Isla Mujeres, all while maintaining a strong Chassidishe atmosphere.

The success of this year’s program was made possible by an outstanding staff, including head counselor Chaim Fogelman, learning director Binyomin Plotkin, learning teachers and counselors Dovid Geisinsky, Zalmy Greenbaum, Sholom Hertz, Sholom Lerman, and Dovy Wilhelm. Their dedication and hard work were crucial to the program’s achievements.
