Students of the Moscow Mesivta spent a week near the Ohel in Alma-Ata, where they learned, farbrenged, and toured the region. They also toured special sites in Kazakhstan related to the Rebbe’s father’s life.
Among others, they farbrenged with Rabbi Shalom Duchman, director of ‘Chabad Kolel,’ and Rabbi Yehuda Grami, the Chief Rabbi of Iran.
During their trip, the students traveled to the Shymbulak mountains, where they took a cable car up to approximately 3,000 meters above sea level, enjoying breathtaking mountain views.
Throughout the trip, local police officers and an Israeli security guard, thanks to the efforts of shliach Rabbi Elchanan Cohen, accompanied them.
After studying Chassidus, shacharis, and breakfast, the bochurim delved into topics from a special kovetz prepared for their trip. After learning, they embarked on an especially challenging 11-kilometer hiking trail, featuring waterfalls, streams, and stunning scenery.
The day concluded with a festive dinner in a large rented venue, where the bochurim enjoyed a challenging and entertaining quiz, demonstrating their extensive knowledge of nigunim and Chabad history. They then held a special kumzitz with Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Shaer, including a moving personal story and accounts of the miracles he experienced throughout his life.
