Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar, shluchim and community members gathered for the inauguration of a new Chabad center for teens, located on the bustling corner of Jaffa Street and King George.
Built under the direction of shliach Rabbi Mendy Kanievsky, the center includes a study area, seating area, game room, kitchen, library, balconies to the main street and more.
Rabbi Moshe Shilat, director of Chabad Youth in Israel, and Rabbi Mendy Lebel, shliach in Yerusalayim, inaugurated the center with the participation of shliach Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Slonim, director of Tzach in Israel, Rabbi Naftali & his son Rabbi Noam Roth, shliach Rabbi Yaakov Halperin and the Rishon LeTzion, Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar. Rabbi Amar placed a mezuzah on the doorpost and spoke enthusiastically, praising Chabad’s youth activities in Eretz Yisrael.
The center was dedicated in honor of the Bar Mitzvah of David Turpashvili by his father, one of the pillars of Chabad Youth in Eretz Yisrael, Rabbi Chaim Turpashvili. He was accompanied by shliach Rabbi Moshe Tverdowitz.
Rabbi Mendy Lebel spoke about how excited the teens are about the new center, and how the space will give a tremendous boost to all of their activities.
During the event, Rabbi Shilat presented Chief Rabbi Amar with a gift: the recently published 2-volume set of “Pesakim MeShulchano shel HaRebbe“, which is a compilation of handwritten answers from the Rebbe.
