Tzeirei Agudas Chabad of Yerushalayim, with the assistance of the Jerusalem Municipality’s Torah Culture Department, held a lighting ceremony for the first Chanukah candle at Kikar Tzion in Yerushalayim.

The event was dedicated to the memory of the Rebbe’s shliach, Rabbi Eli Schlanger hy”d, who was murdered today, and for the refuah sheleimah of those wounded in the shocking terror attack that occurred in Sydney, Australia.

The Chanukah candle was lit by Sydney shliach Rabbi Pini Althaus, who is currently visiting Eretz Yisroel, whose family members were injured in the murderous attack. The gathering will be held as a sign of solidarity, strengthening, and unity with the Jewish community in Sydney and with the families of the victims.

Tzach of Yerushalayim emphasized that even in these difficult hours, the Rebbe’s shluchim continue to illuminate the darkness with the light of Chanukah, with faith that through joy and light we will overcome darkness, terror, and loss.
