The courtyard of 770, host to countless chuppas throughout the year, a large sukkah every Tishrei and the iconic ‘tashlich’ fountain, is getting a long-needed restoration.

The courtyard, which is passed through tens of thousands of people throughout the year, was in desperate need of repairs, with the faulty sections even allowing leaks in archival rooms of the Rebbe’s library, which are directly beneath the courtyard.

Workers began removing the large stone tiles this week, when no weddings are taking place due to the Three Weeks. The front and back sections of the courtyard, which were most in need of repair, are being fully redone, with new cement being poured and new tiles being laid.

Other sections of the courtyard will also receive minor repairs.

The work is being supervised by Rabbi Chaim Boruch Halberstam of Vaad Bedek Habayis of 770, with the help of Rabbi Yossi Rabkin.
