‘When the Rebbe Looked at My Father, I Felt Like He Was Looking at Me’
Three years ago, in a film highlighting their shlichus in Sydney, then 10-year-old shliach Nosson Schlanger and his father, Rabbi Eli Schlanger HYD, speak of their connection to the Rebbe and their commitment to every Yid.
Three years ago, then 10-year-old shliach Nosson Schlanger and his beloved father, Rabbi Eli Schlanger HYD, who was tragically murdered in the horrific Sydney terror attack, were featured in a film for the Kinus Tzeirei Hashluchim banquet.
The video showcases the life of a young shliach in Sydney. While accompanying his father distributing Matzah before Pesach, Nosson noticed there were no Mezuzos on the doors of the homes they visited. Thus began a campaign to put up mezuzos on their doors.
The film provides a small glimpse into the sacred work of Rabbi Schlanger HYD and the warmth with which he raised his children on shlichus.
“My father has this DVD,” Nosson Schlanger says in the video, “that shows my father and the Rebbe, and when the Rebbe looked at him I felt like he was looking at me… he picked me to be his shliach.”
Today, Nosson and his siblings are left to stand on their own to continue the holy shlichus of their father – may Hashem avenge his blood.
