As Yud Shevat approaches, the Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim is unveiling a fully reimagined and expanded slate of programming for 5786, designed to elevate the Yud Shevat experience for Bochurim and help them connect more deeply with the Rebbe.
This year’s programming marks a major shift in how the Vaad supports Bochurim during their time in New York, with a full-day framework focused on preparation, inspiration, and learning.
The day will begin with a special Kinus Hachana on Yud Shevat morning at the Ohel, held in a dedicated tent set up specifically for Bochurim in close proximity to the Ohel. The program will include videos of the Rebbe, niggunim, and words of inspiration, creating a focused atmosphere of hachana and hiskashrus prior to going to the Rebbe. Following the Kinus, Bochurim will write panim and go into the Ohel, enabling them to approach this powerful moment with added preparation, clarity, and connection.
“Yud Shevat is a foundational time of hiskashrus for a Bochur,” said Rabbi Tzvi Altein, Executive Director of the Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim. “When Bochurim come to New York to be by the Rebbe, the Vaad sees it as our responsibility to ensure that they have a meaningful and uplifting experience that deepens their connection to the Rebbe.”
In the afternoon, the Vaad will be launching a brand-new program for Mesivta Bochurim from participating yeshivos, taking place in a dedicated, comfortable Five Towns venue. Following lunch, Bochurim will enjoy a dynamic multi-track program featuring engaging shiurim and presentations, exploration of the Rebbe’s Torah, powerful zichronos from 770, and a live recording of the Among Chassidim Podcast by A Chassidisher Derher.
The program will conclude with a live Q&A panel, giving Bochurim the opportunity to ask real-life questions and receive guidance from prominent Mashpi’im, addressing the unique opportunities and challenges in the hiskashrus of today’s Bochur.
“Bochurim prepare for Yud Shevat for months, and our goal is to make sure their time by the Rebbe can be utilized to the fullest,” said Rabbi Meir Deren, Head of Programming for the Vaad. “This year, the Vaad has completely reimagined our Yud Shevat offerings to meet the needs of the Bochurim. IYH, these new programs will give Bochurim an upgraded and structured experience resulting in powerful inspiration to take back to Yeshiva.
The day will conclude with a central Yud Shevat Fabrengen in Crown Heights, in English, led by Rabbi Osher Farkash, bringing together Bochurim in the spirit of Achdus.
Anticipation is also building for the upcoming Halikut Siyum, which will take place BEZH on Thursday, 11 Shevat. After months of dedicated learning by Bochurim around the world, the Siyum is expected to be a powerful and uplifting moment, bringing together participants to celebrate the completion of this year’s Halikut learning. Additional details about the Siyum program will be released in the coming days.
Participation in the Vaad’s Yud Shevat programming requires registration through participating yeshivos. For more information and to register, yeshivos and Bochurim should contact Rabbi Meir Deren at [email protected].
Yud Shevat programming is made possible by Reb Yoseph Yitzchak Popack in memory of his parents Reb Shmuel Isaac Halevi & Miriam A”H Popack, and by Reb Osher and Rivkah Karnowsky in memory of their son, Hatomim Shmuel A”H.
Believe it or not, there are still many OT bachurim who don’t read English very well but do read Yiddish and Lashon Kodesh. It would only be right to celebrate these bachurim, or at least cater to them by having the flier in those languages and not just in English. Let’s imagine what the Rebbe would say….
