The last maamar by the Tzemach Tzedek’s son, Reb Chaim Schneur Zalman of Liadi, has been published in full for the first time.
Reb Chaim Schneur Zalman Schneerson was born to the Tzemach Tzedek in 5574/1814, and named after his great-grandfather, the Alter Rebbe.
Three years after the Tzemach Tzedek’s passing, in 5629/1869, Rabbi Chaim Schneur Zalman moved to Liadi, where he served as Rebbe for 11 years, and he later passed away during the month of Teves at the age of 66. Interestingly, the Alter Rebbe had also been the Rebbe in Liadi for 11 years (1802) and had also passed away in the month of Teves at age 66.
Upon moving to Liadi, Rabbi Chaim Schneur Zalman quoted the possuk, ודור רביעי ישובו הנה – “and the fourth generation will return here,” returning to his return to Liadi as the fourth generation since the Alter Rebbe.
Reb Chaim Schneur Zalman said this teaching, his last Maamar, on Parshas VaYetze 5640/1879, and passed away one month later on the 4th of Teves. On his death bed, he remarked that Teves was a “good month.” He was succeeded by his son Reb Yitzchak Dovber in Liadi, where he also had a Yeshiva.
This year marks the 140th anniversary of his passing. This amazing Maamar is being published for the first time in its original form from manuscript by Akiva Shavrick of Baltimore.
A tremendous amount of time and effort has gone into preparing the text for publication, your financial support would be greatly appreciated.
