New Nach Translation Based on Rebbe’s Sichos Debuts in Chayenu

A groundbreaking project to translate the entire Tanach into English with commentary based on the Rebbe’s teachings will begin to feature in Chayenu.

At times of challenge, the Rebbe often encouraged the importance of adding in Torah learning. At this time, when the Jews of Eretz Yisroel are in need of added blessings and protection, we can all do our part in adding in our Torah learning. Let’s take upon ourselves to learn Tanach with the explanation of Chasidus.

The Tanach is rich in history and full of inspiring narratives. It is exciting to read and stimulating to learn. We learn about the holiness of the Land of Israel, and its many conquests. What’s more, it is full of lessons that can enhance our moral and spiritual journey. As the gemara (Megillah 14a) teaches, there were 1,200,000 prophets throughout the era of prophecy, but it was only those prophecies that contained an eternal message for the Jewish people that were recorded.

In this exciting new project, the eternal messages of the Prophets and the Writings come to life, illuminated with the insights of Chasidus and particularly with the teachings of the Rebbe.

The global successes of Chabad House Publication’s projects, including the Kehot Chumash (full and synagogue editions), the Book of Haftaros, and three volumes of Daily Wisdom (volume 1 of which has already been translated into ten languages), have all garnered enthusiastic, positive feedback for their masterly translations and insightful commentary. Encouraged by this response, Chabad House Publications has decided to continue this chain of life-changing publications by issuing a new, interpolated translation of the rest of the Tanach, based on Rashi’s commentary, together with a commentary culled from the teachings of Chasidus.

This exciting project is the fruit of the efforts of Rabbi Moshe Yaakov Wisnefsky, editor in chief; Rabbi Aaron Leib Raskin, editorial research; and Rabbi Chaim Nochum Cunin, director and general editor.

This fundamental and inspiring material will, for the present, be available only in your Chayenu weekly publication–beginning with parshas Noach, presented in an easy-to-learn format, with English and Hebrew text side-by-side and an interpolated translation for easy comprehension. Now is the time to begin your Tanach journey.

The Rebbe writes in Hayom Yom (entry for 19 Adar I):

Chassidim, even those of average spiritual stature, used to be thoroughly knowledgeable in the Tanach. After their [daily] study of Mishnayos following the Morning Service, it was their regular custom to read chapters of Tanach while putting away their tallis and tefillin. Their schedule enabled them to complete the entire Tanach in three months.

With the start of a new year, it is time to take on this new study regimen. Learn the entire Tanach, one chapter a week!

The study of the Tanach, one chapter a week, is a perfect new study routine to initiate with your family, with a friend, or by yourself in your own free time.
