The Cadillac car that was used to drive the Rebbe to the Ohel and other locations was seen on Wednesday afternoon parked outside 770. The reason? It was being used as a chosson and kallah car for the grandchildren of the owner.

The Rebbe’s car was seen parked in front of 770 with the memorable “DD770” written on the license plate. The car, which actually belonged to Rabbi Binyamin Klein, the Rebbe’s secretary, was used to drive the Rebbe around as needed.

Although old, the car is still in driveable condition and is used for grandchildren’s weddings as a chosson and kallah car. The car was seen at the wedding of Leibi Marozov and Mimi Garelik, Rabbi Klein’s granddaughter.

Bochurim and passersby grabbed the opportunity to sneak a peak or snap a picture of the car, which gained an iconic status over the decades it was used in the Rebbe’s service.

Discussion

We appreciate your feedback. If you have any additional information to contribute to this article, it will be added below.

  1. The car was not in useable condition for many years and has only recently been restored and is now usuable

  2. 1) Rabbi Klien was “officially” the secretary to Rabbi Chadacov NOT of the Rebbe.
    2) the Rebbe used the car when He went to the mikvah & when Rabbi Chadakov went with the Rebbe.
    3) On most occasions, the Rebbe went to the ohel with the grey car driven by Rabbi Krinsky. when Rabbi Krinsky, wasn’t in town, The Rebbe went to the Ohel with the black car driven by Rabbi Klien.

    4) May the Chosson & Kallah have a binyan adai ad & bring the Rebbe much nachas.
