A nigun composed by renowned composer Reb Shalom Charitonov, which he composed to express the avodah of a chossid, was remastered and recorded by Rabbi Menachem Amar.
This nigun was composed by the renowned baal menagen Reb Shalom Charitonov and was published on a record titled “Niggunei Shalom,” recorded by his son, Reb Shamshon Charitonov.
The album cover included an explanation of the melody and its tenuos: “In its three parts, this niggun expresses the self-reflection of a person as they ascend the ladder of avoda ruchnis. In the first to the third sections, one can feel how the individual pauses to contemplate their position, where they have reached personally, their actions and achievements. They then determine to continue as a dedicated soldier in Hashem’s army. The third section then repeats itself, expressing his feeling that through this approach, he will reach his desired goal.”
“Chassidim sing this niggun during farbrengens that assist them in solidifying hachlatos in their avodas Hashem. They examine themselves, probing if they are fulfilling their purpose, and pledge to serve Hashem with mesiras nefesh – to devote themselves without any conditions, just like a soldier who faithfully fulfills the commands given to him by his superiors.”
The nigun is song 285 in Sefer Hanigunim.
