Ahead of Yud Tes Kislev, a historic printing of the Tanya took place at the official residence of New York State Governor Kathy Hochul in Albany, NY.
The event, held in conjunction with the governor’s pre-Chanukah celebration, was organized at the initiative of Crown Heights activist Rabbi Chanina Sperlin. A printer was brought into the mansion to produce many copies of the Tanya, which would later be bound with a cover. Rabbis Shmuly Butler and Mendel Gerlitzky facilitated the printing process.
In keeping with tradition, additional copies of the first pages of the Tanya were printed and studied at the governor’s residence. This part of the program was led by Rabbi Yossi Rubin, shliach to Clifton Park in the Capital Region, his father Rabbi Yisroel Rubin, Head Shliach of Albany, NY, and Rabbi Shmuly Rubin, shliach to Schenectady University.
This edition marks the 8,551st printing of the Tanya, following the hora’a of the Rebbe to print the Tanya in every possible location to spread the light of Chassidus everywhere.
