Suspects Arrested After Attempted Armed Burglary in Crown Heights

2 men were apprehended by Crown Heights Shmira and the NYPD after attempting to force their way into a Crown Heights home on Sunday afternoon while armed with knives.

2 men were apprehended by Crown Heights Shmira and the NYPD after attempting to force their way into a Crown Heights home on Sunday afternoon while armed with knives.

At approximately 1:30PM, the 2 men began to repeatedly attempt to break down the front door as one of the men was brandishing a large knife. 

One of the men then climbed onto the front porch and smashed the glass of the porch sliding doors. B”H, the grids remained intact and they left the scene. 

A neighbor who witnessed the attempted burglary immediately called the Shmira hotline. When the volunteers arrived at the scene, they began to search for the suspects and notified the NYPD. 

A short while later, a responding Shmira volunteer spotted one of the perpetrators and was able to follow him to a basement where the perpetrator barricaded himself inside. 

Shortly after, the NYPD’s emergency service unit arrived and took the suspect into custody without any incident. 

The 2nd suspect was arrested a few hours later. 

The incident was captured on surveillance footage.
