A group of students from the Yeshiva in Moscow visited the kever of Rebbetzin Devorah Leah, daughter of the Alter Rebbe and mother of the Tzemach Tzedek, in the town of Lyozna. Lyozna is located in Belarus, about a 6.5-hour drive from the Russian capital.
Rebbetzin Devorah Leah (5526 – 3 Tishrei 5553) is renowned for her extraordinary mesirus nefesh, giving up her life so that her father could continue spreading Chassidus. She is buried at the edge of the old Jewish cemetery in Liozna, the town where the Alter Rebbe lived for many years and where Chassidus Chabad first flourished.
The group gathered near her kever, where they recited Tehillim and kaddish.
The visit was part of the yeshiva’s journey to historic sites connected to the early years of Chabad, giving the students the opportunity to daven at the Rebbetzin’s resting place and be inspired by her mesirus nefesh.
