Time for a sweet break: In honor of Shavuos, a special operation was launched to make sure every Jewish family and child remaining in Ukraine, will be able to enjoy kosher milky ice cream.
Ice cream factories in Ukraine have been working around the clock for the last couple of weeks, to produce an unprecedented amount of kosher milky ice cream cones, ordered and supervised by the Federation of Jewish Communities of the CIS (FJC). The goal is to reach out to every Jewish family remaining in the country, even in small and remote villages and towns, and make sure they can take a break from the ongoing tension and enjoy a few moments of joy and serenity.
In addition to the ice cream cones, the children will receive snacks and booklets with fascinating information about the holiday, its inner meaning, and traditions. Their families will also receive large food packages including kosher meat, basic supplies, and vegetables, all of which have become difficult to obtain due to the crisis.
“The ice cream helps the children and families forget the tense and difficult atmosphere,” the committee of Chabad emissaries in Ukraine explained. “We have to make sure that they can find the strength to overcome these challenging times.”
The ice cream cones were generously donated by the OU (Orthodox Union) Organization and Rabbi Yaakov Frenkel from the ‘Hatzalah Committee’ of Europe.
