New Torah at Banquet to Honor Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky
During the closing of the Kinus banquet, a grand siyum Sefer Torah will honor Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, the longtime force behind the Kinus. The celebration will continue at 770 with the Sefer Torah Haklali and a global farbrengen.
As the International Kinus Hashluchim draws over 6,500 Shluchim and supporters from around the world, this year’s closing gala will include a deeply personal moment: the completion of a Sefer Torah written in L’ilui Nishmas Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, A”H, the beloved chairman of the Kinus.
The siyum will take place during the closing gala’s program today: a fitting tribute at the gathering Rabbi Kotlarsky led for decades. As Vice Chairman of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch and longtime Chairman of the International Kinus Hashluchim, Rabbi Kotlarsky dedicated his life to the Rebbe’s vision, building Jewish life and supporting Shluchim in every corner of the world.
As director of the Kinus, Rabbi Kotlarsky oversaw its expansion from a small gathering to a global conference of over 6,000 Shluchim couples. He was the face of the iconic roll call, his voice rising with the names of cities and countries, culminating in a call for a “round of applause for the whole wide world!” followed by “spontaneous dancing.”
Later tonight, the “spontaneous dancing” will continue when the Torah will be brought to 770 to join the 11th Siyum of the Sefer Torah Haklali, the global unity Torah-writing campaign launched by the Rebbe. The Hakafos will begin at 8:30 PM, followed by a farbrengen with Shluchim from across the globe. All are encouraged to attend.
