‘Show Your Students that You Really Care About Them’

In a podcast interview, Rabbi Moshe Wolberg, longtime maggid shiur at yeshivos of Oholei Torah, Manchester, and Kfar Chabad, reflects on his life story, his journey to Lubavitch, and what it means to be a Chossid today.
Born to Polish survivor parents who were saved during the war in Russia, Rabbi Wolberg did not grow up in a Chabad environment. His first encounter with Lubavitch came through a Chabad yeshiva in Brownsville, Brooklyn, where he was immediately drawn to its warmth. Even while studying in a non-Chabad yeshiva, he would often walk to 770 Eastern Parkway to attend the Rebbe’s farbrengens, captivated by the feeling of “losing yourself” in something higher.
At age 17, seeking clarity on where to continue his studies, he turned to the Rebbe for guidance, which ultimately led him to the yeshiva in Morristown. As a bochur in 770, Rabbi Wolberg played a role in the revival of the regular publication of the Rebbe’s sichos and maamarim.
Reflecting on his decades of experience teaching and guiding bochurim, Rabbi Wolberg shares his approach to helping bochurim strengthen their hiskashrus. The key, he says, is to focus on genuine care – “working on yourself” rather than trying to change others – and realizing that bringing these bochurim closer to the Rebbe is very important in bringing Moshiach closer.
