Just days after laying to rest their fellow shliach Rabbi Zvi Kogan HY”D, who was murdered by terrorists in Dubai at the age of 28, thousands of Shluchim representing Jewish communities in all 50 US States and over 110 countries assembled at the Rebbe’s Ohel this morning as part of the International Conference of Shluchim’s annual tradition.
“This is the most powerful moment of the conference, thousands of Shluchim representing millions of Jews from all walks of life, have a chance to pray on behalf of their families and communities,” explains Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Director of the International Conference of Shluchim. “Here they are at the Rebbe’s resting place, The Rebbe who inspired each of these shluchim to dedicate their lives to the service of their fellow Jews with unconditional love.”
The visit to the Ohel is the spiritual highlight of the Kinus’s long weekend. Shluchim arrive to daven for their families, communities, Israel, and peace around the world. Carrying notes with written requests from their networks spanning the globe, countless prayers pierced the heavens on the crisp autumn morning in New York.
As emissaries waited in line outside the Ohel, reciting Tehillim, many reflected on Rabbi Kogan’s legacy and their own commitment to their Shlichus. One such shliach was Rabbi Mendy Mann, of Chabad of Or Akiva and Caesarea in Israel, who together with his wife Malki joined the ranks of Chabad Shluchim in July of this year.
“I brought a tzetel from Israel containing all the names of our community members,” Mann shared with Chabad.org News. “Many people in our community have children who are serving in the military in Lebanon. It means everything to them to know that I’ll be davening for their sons and daughters at this sacred place. These tefillos help give their children the strength to continue defending Israel.”
The visit culminated in the reading of the pan klali that was signed by all shluchim and contained prayers for Israel, the Jewish people, and humanity at large.
