Rebbetzin Shaina Schneerson, Rebbetzin of Congregation Bais Schnay-Or in Flatbush, New York, passed away on Friday, Pesach Sheni, 5783.
She was 91 years old.
Shaindel (Sonia) Chitrik Schneerson was born on Beis Iyar 5692 in Kharkivs’ka oblast, Ukraine, to Harav Yehuda and Keila (Tumarkin) Chitrik, daughter of the Gaon, Rabbi Aharon Tumarkin, the chief Rabbi of Charkov.
She and her family escaped Stalin’s regime and first moved to Montreal, Canada, before eventually settling in Brooklyn, New York.
Shaindel married R’ Sholom Ber Schneerson a”h, the son of Rabbi Schneur Zalman Schneerson and great-grandson of Rabbi Baruch Sholom Schneerson, the eldest son of the Tzemach Tzedek.
Shaindel Schneerson was the beloved Rebbetzin of Congregation Beth Schnay-Or in Flatbush, New York.
She is survived by her sons, Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson – Los Angeles, CA; Mendel Schneerson – Crown Heights; and Chaya Herzog – Crown Heights; as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The levaya will be held today (Friday), passing by 770 Eastern Parkway at 3:45 PM.
The Schneerson/Herzog families will be sitting shiva for the passing of Rebbetzin Shaina Schneerson a”h at 1378 President Street in Crown Heights.
