Rabbi Tzvi Burla AH, an elder chossid and mashpia who emigrated from the Soviet Union to Nachlas Har Chabad, passed away on Wednesday, 17 Shevat.

He was 87 years old.

R’ Tzvi was born in the Soviet Union on 13 Teves 5699 to his parents, Yisroel and Sarah Sonia Burla, in a family that was not observant of Torah and mitzvos.

Upon reaching marriage age, he married his wife, Rosa, daughter of R’ Zalman and Chaya Kievman. While living in Russia, he pursued higher secular education and earned a university degree. Later, he returned to Yiddishkeit and became a Chabad chossid, dedicating long hours to davening b’arichus.

In 5736, he received permission to leave the Soviet Union and immigrated to Eretz Yisroel with his family. They settled in Nachlas Har Chabad, which had been established by the Rebbe for Russian immigrants.

After retiring, he devoted himself entirely to avodas Hashem, learning Chassidus, davening at length, and serving as a mashpia at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim Nachalas Har Chabad and in the local Anash community.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rosa Burla, and their children: R’ Dovid Menachem Mendel Burla, R’ Sholom Dovber Burla, and R’ Yisroel Shneur Zalman Chaim Reuven Burla, Mrs. Chana Rochel Kozliner, Mrs. Nechama Dina Fleiss, Mrs. Rivka Leah Shuker, and Mrs. Bas Sheva Maman.
