Rabbi Saadia Dahan, a veteran shliach and educator in Eretz Yisroel who lived in Crown Heights for 2 decades, passed away on Thursday, 3 Kislev, 5784.

He was 80 years old.

Rabbi Dahan was born in Morocco to his parents Rabbi Mordechai and Esther Dahan. As a child he joined the Chabad institutions in Morocco, where he studied alongside Rabbi Elazar Abuchatzera, famously know as the Baba Elazar, and others.

During his years in Tomchei Temimim Casablanca, he became a Lubavitcher chossid and was one of the first Chabad Chassidim born in Morocco. After his marriage, he joined the Rebbe’s army of shluchim and settled in Moshav Brosh where he served as an educator.

After years in Brosh, he relocated to Nachalas Har Chabad where he joined the educational team at the Chabad trade school and trained many students. He was also the first shliach in the settlement of Gan Yavne and started Chabad activities there.

He would make frequent trips to the Rebbe and each time he would take along one of his children with him, even in the years when it was less commonplace.

In 5750, with the Rebbe’s blessing, the family moved to Crown Heights where he worked as a rabbi. His house was open to many guests specially on Shabbos and yomtov. After twenty years in Crown Heights he returned to Nachla and resumed his work in chinuch.

He is survived by his wife Chassiba and children: Rabbi Menachem Mendel Dahan – Crown Heights; Mrs. Devorah Leah Naki – Herzliya; Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Dahan – Crown Heights; Rabbi Shmuel Dahan – Netanya; Mrs. Nechama Dina Ezagui – Crown Heights; Rabbi Shalom Dovber Dahan – Montreal; Rabbi Shneor Zalman Dahan – Nachalas Har Chabad; and Rabbi Shaul Dahan – Miami, Florida.

Baruch Dayan Haemes.
