Rabbi Michoel Saadya Cohen, a”h, a shliach to the French speaking community of New York City, passed away Friday morning, 9th of Nissan, 5780.
He was 58 years old.
Rabbi Cohen founded and directed CCF New York, a Chabad center for French speakers which organized an array of activities and classes for locals and visitors alike. He would regularly hold Jewish events at the French Embassy or Consulate in New York.
He was the NY liason for the Yeshiva in Brunoy, helping parents and bochurim with tickets and visa procurement, facilitating what could often be a cumbersome experience. Just a few weeks ago, while the airports we’re closing and flights cancelling, Rabbi Cohen and his wife worked hard into the night to help arrange flights for bochurim to get home.
He is survived be his wife Esther, and children; Simcha Cohen, Mrs. Chaya Zaetz, Mrs.Miriam Borrocos, Mrs. Sarah Bortunk, Yael Cohen, Rivkah Cohen, Menachem Cohen, and Moshe Cohen.
The Levaya will be passing 770 at 12 pm and then to his home, 762 Empire Blvd.
