Rabbi Mendel Plotkin, a young father and activist in the Toronto Chabad community, passed away on Shabbos, 6 Iyar, 5782.
He was 43 years old.
Rabbi Plotkin served as a mashgiach in Yeshivas Lubavitch of Toronto for a number of years, before going on to be the owner of the ‘Savers’ kosher grocery store.
Friends remember him as an aidele, chassidish yid, who helped many families in the community.
This past week, he was hospitalized in Toronto. Round-the-clock tehillim was being said by anash around the world, but sadly, he passed away on Shabbos.
He is survived by his wife Goldie (nee Wolosow) and their nine children: Nochum, Yisrolik, Shaina, Levi, Yosef, Chaya Mushka, Shneur Zalman, Tzippa and Relka.
He is also survived by his parents Rabbi Mayer and Sarah Leah Plotkin – Montreal; and siblings Miriam Notik – Montreal; Rivkie Bogomilsky – New Jersey, Shterny Raskin – Montreal; Levi Plotkin – Crown Heights; Shmarya Plotkin – Montreal; Nechama Dinah Lipskier – Crown Heights; Yosef Plotkin – North Carolina; Malka Michla Perlow – Crown Heights.
The Levaya will take place Sunday, leaving Shomrei Hadas in Boro Park at 2:00 PM and passing by 770 Eastern Parkway at 3:00 PM.
Shiva will be at 555 Crown St. #1E.
