Rabbi Mendel Blau, who has served in recent years as the menahel of the yeshiva in Chovevei Torah, has been appointed as Menahel Roshi of the entire Oholei Torah school, beginning next school year.
In recent years, Oholei Torah has been on the search for a menahel, who would make the yeshiva a successful and flourishing cheder. The person had to be a qualified mechanech who understands and appreciates the unique goal that the Rebbe set for Oholei Torah. At last, that search has brought success.
The Vaad Ruchni of Oholei Torah announced that they have have appointed Rabbi Blau to the position of Menahel Roshi of Oholei Torah. He will stand in charge of the ruchniyos of the entire institution, from pre-school through Zal.
“[Rabbi Blau] will help lead, shape, and inspire the educational direction of the entire Moisad, unifying the many departments—from preschool through Beis Medrash—under one cohesive banner, while innovating for current and future success.
“The spirit of the search was not to maintain the status quo, or even perfect the systems in place, but to continue the revolutionary and trailblazing tradition of the Yeshiva of Shem v’Ever and Tomchei Temimim,” Oholei Torah said in a statement to parents.
Rabbi Blau attended Oholei Torah throughout all his schools years. He has gone on in recent years to head the Tomchei Temimim yeshiva in Chovevei Torah, where he developed a parallel program called Achei Temimim for bochurim who needed a different yeshiva experience.
Rabbi Blau will begin his role as director of Oholei Torah for this coming school year. He will complete this year at Chovevei Torah, where he will guide others to fill his role.
“A proud preschool-through – Beis Medrash alum of Oholei Torah, R’ Blau’s immediate goal this year will be to reacquaint himself with the institution, its leadership, faculty, families, students, and educational systems,” Oholei Torah said.
