Rabbi Chaim Gurevitch, a Crown Heights resident and director of development at Colel Chabad, passed away after being involved in a car accident while delivering matzos.
Rabbi Chaim Gurevitch, a Crown Heights resident and patriach of a large Lubavitch family, passed away on Tuesday, 3 Nissan, 5781.
He was 62 years old.
Rabbi Gurevitch served as the director of development of Colel Chabad, which feeds and supports thousands of needy and elderly across Eretz Yisroel.
Following the bris of a grandchild earlier this week, Rabbi Gurevitch was delivering Shmura matza to Jews in Deal, NJ a few days ago when he was tragically struck by vehicle.
He is survived by his wife Fraidy, children Rabbi Levi Gurevitch – Southlake, Texas; Mrs. Estie Zaklikovsky – Bellair, Texas; Rabbi Mendy Gurevitch – Buenos Aires, Argentenia; Mrs. Rikki Altein – Broomall, PA; Rabbi Berel Gurevitch – Eugene, Oregon; Mrs. Mushky Brook – Minneapolis, Minnesota; Mrs. Chanale Vogel – Wilmington, Delaware; Shmuly Gurevitch – Crown Heights and Nochum Gurevitch – Crown Heights, and grandchildren.
The family asks that his mother, Mrs. Bella Gurevitch, not be informed about the passing.
He is also survived by his siblings, Rabbi Elimelech Gurevitch – Laguna Beach, California: Mrs. Tzivia Friedman – Kfar Chabad, Eretz Yisroel; R’ Yossel Gurevitch – Crown Heights; R’ Menachem Gurevitch – Crown Heights; Mrs. Chana Marazov – Kfar Chabad, Eretz Yisroel.
Levaya will begin at 10 am at the Shomrei Hadas chapel and pass in front of 770 at 11 am.
Shiva will be at the Gurevitch residence 555 Crown St. #3H
