Born in the Soviet Union, he managed to escape with the mass exodus of Chassidus in 1947 and settle in Eretz Yisroel, while his parents stayed behind in Russia. Later, he traveled to study at the yeshiva in 770 and married Brocha Schapiro of Pittsburgh.
For many years he and his partner R’ Heishke Gansburg ran the “Empire Press” and published many of the Kehos seforim. Reb Mottel was active in many Crown Heights mosdos and a welcome figure in 770.
Although not an official shliach, he spent his free time learning Chassidus and reaching out to unaffiliated Jews. His children on shlichus were his pride and joy.
Reb Mottel was a passionate chossid who excelled in Ahavas Yisroel.
