With great sadness, we inform you of the passing of Reb Menachem Mordechai Nissim of Crown Heights, who passed away from the coronavirus.
He was 69 years old.
Reb Menachem was a talmid of the Lubavitcher Yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel, where he studied under the mashpia Reb Shlomo Chaim Kesselman. He came to the US a bochur in kvutzah and had been in the US ever since.
For many years Reb Menachem managed the children’s toy store on the corner of Union and Kingston, spending his spare time learning and davening. He would often make a siyum mesechta in 770 during the nine days.
In recent years, his health had failed him, having suffered a stroke over a year ago.
He is survived by his wife Esther, and children Rabbi Yisroel Nissim of Greenpoint, NY, Chani Zohar of Crown Heights, and Devorie Lipszyc of Crown Heights.
The levaya will pass by 770 at 3:30 Friday afternoon. Please take the necessary health precautions.
Baruch Dayan Ha’emes.
Harav Nissim was a remarkable Talmid Chochom who was so humble. He was always friendly and looking to assist with anything he can. We are shocked to have lost him and will sorely miss him.

We were close friends from yeshivah days in kfar chabad. He was fluent in yiddish and taught the Rebbes sichos, translating yiddish to hebrew for the non yiddish speaking Israelis and for myself. It was always a big simcha when we would see each other in crown heights. He will be sorely missed. May Hashem send comfort to all the family. We will meet together soon with the hisgalus of the Rebbe MH”M and geulah shleimah now mamash.
I remember as a kid that whenever he was not busy with a customer, he was saying Tehillim or learning. Left an impression!

Dear Family and Friends,
In these hard times, we unfortunately are not able to even mourn our dear Husband/Father in any of the “normal” ways.
Since we do not have a chance to have visitors telling us of their fondest memories of him, we have set up an e-mail address [email protected] for people to send their memories and hachlotos tovos לעילוי נשמתו. These will be compiled into a collection for the whole family to read.
As well, we dearly want to honor his נשמה with the completion of Mishnayos within the shiva (Thursday morning ח׳ ניסן). To this end, we have set up a web page at mishna yahad http://mishnayahad.com/or.jsp?r=8749596149 for people to be able to easily say a perek whenever they have a free moment. Please help us to finish in time.
Thank you for being with us at this difficult time.
