R’ Avrohom Gershon Schmerling, a prominent member of the Chabad community in Zürich, Switzerland, passed away suddenly on Monday, 3 Av.

For nearly 40 years, Avrohom Gershon was at the forefront of the Shul in the Zurich Beth Chabad and was usually the first to come to shul every morning.

He could usually be found learning, davening, or distributing tzedakah to the many who came to the Beth Chabad from all over looking for Mr. Schmerling. He faithfully attended shiurim, and merited to complete shas several times.

Although he faced many challenges in his life, his faith in Hashem was always apparent, and he loved to end each conversation with “Moshiach now”.

He was known to be very mehader in mitvos and minhogim, sometimes under very trying circumstances.

He is survived by his wife Shulamis (Shuli), and 2 daughters. He is also survived by his brother Akiva Schmerling.

As per his wishes, he was brought to kevurah in Chelkas Chabad on Har Hazaysim.

He was predeceased by his brother R’ Levi Yitzchok Schmerling a”h.

Baruch Dayan Haemes.
