R’ Zelig Gottlieb, a long-time resident of Crown Heights and a respected talmid chochom, passed away Monday night, 6 Nissan.
He was 71 years old and passed away from complications of the coronavirus.
Born in Chicago, Zelig followed his older brothers and joined the Lubavitcher yeshiva at Bedford & Dean, where he grew in Torah and Chassidus.
He was a known figure of stature at Empire Shtiebel in Crown Heights.
He is survived by his wife Chana Rivka, children: Devora Gansburg – Crown Heights, Zeldy Liberow – Colorado Springs, CO, Dina Sasonkin – Crown Heights, Malky Schmukler – League City, TX, Bracha Rendler – Crown Heights, Raizy Margolin, University Heights, OH, Sari – Crown Heights, Mendy – Montreal, and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Chaya, a”h.
He is also survived by his brothers, Betzalel – Oak Park, MI, Yankel – Crown Heights, and Naftoli – Crown Heights.
The family of Naftoli Gottlieb requests that he NOT be told of his brother’s passing.
Levaya will take place Wednesday, Zayin Nissan
It will be passing 770 at 9:55 am,
Then passing by his house, 456 Brooklyn Ave (bet Empire Blvd and Sterling St.)
