It’s recruitment season! As chinuch organizations begin planning the upcoming school year, new opportunities arise. This is a time when yeshivos seek additional staff and growing institutions open new, uncharted roles. Meanwhile, both fresh and seasoned educators sharpen their resumes, seeking jobs in chinuch. The search is daunting.
Here’s where the International Teacher Recruitment (ITR) comes in. A shadchan of sorts, ITR was created by leading chinuch institution Igud Hamelamdim to match employers with new employees. And it’s easy to use! Seekers fill out a quick form and the ball gets rolling.
Matches are made in heaven, but also in the Igud Hamelamdim office. The phones have recently been ringing off the hook. The office staff has been uniquely interviewing teachers, documenting specific needs and setting them up with potential placements. At the same time, mosdos and schools across the globe have been reaching out with requirements.
“Matching educators was a niche needing to be filled,” explains executive director Rabbi Avrohom Bluming, “and specifically in the Lubavitch chinuch world—which requires global networking. ”
As a well-known Lubavitch chinuch organization, Igud Hamelamdim has placed tens of teachers, principals and other chinuch personnel in Chabad mosdos around the world. Their niche is working hard to understand each person, in order to match them to a uniquely suited position. Rabbi Bluming also visited the local kolelim, where he inspired and networked with the yungeleit to take on a chinuch shlichus.
“When I was looking for a position in chinuch—to work in the Rebbe’s shlichus—I contacted Rabbi Bluming of Igud Hamelamdim. In a quick and smooth turnaround, I was secured a teaching position,” shares Rabbi Binyomin Lezak.
The International Teacher Recruitment program was created four years ago. And there are countless stories. This past month, a young man reached out to Igud Hamelamdim, he had a degree and background in accounting, earning a nice salary, but an even greater passion for giving Torah over to students. He built up his skills through observing classes and attending workshops, and when he was ready, Igud Hamelamdim connected him to a well-suited elementary school yeshiva, where he was quickly hired. His excitement for chinuch brought him to fulfill his dreams. “Chinuch is a very great and rewarding shlichus; we need to do all that we can to step up to the plate!” says Rabbi Bluming.
In the five plus years since Igud Hamelamdim’s founding, the non-profit chinuch organization has done much for the international Lubavitch community. The operation is credited as having raised the bar of chinuch for schools and yeshivos throughout the world via its teacher farbrengens, professional training courses, worldwide Avos Ubanim, financial bonuses and much more. With the improvement of the International Teacher Recruitment program, Igud Hamelamdim has lifted the bar one level higher.
“Baruch Hashem, today we finalized that the yungerman and his family will move out on shlichus to teach in our school. Thank you so much for sending them to us,” expressed Rabbi Yossi Korik from Chabad of Roseville, CA.
