North Crown Heights Inspired by Rabbi Nosson Gurary

The Lincoln Place Shul and Beis Hamedrash in North Crown Heights hosted Rabbi Nosson Gurary, longtime shliach at the University at Buffalo and mashpia in Monsey, for an uplifting Yud Tes Kislev farbrengen.

On Yud Tes Kislev, a farbrengen was held at Lincoln Place Shul and Beis Hamedrash in North Crown Heights.  The farbrengen followed the tradition that has developed over the years in North Crown Heights, where Yud Tes Kislev is celebrated with a warm and abundant Farbrengen.

The farbrengen was led by Rabbi Nosson Gurary, who served for many decades as a shliach at the University at Buffalo. Rabbi Gourary spoke openly about his early years in shlichus, which were not easy. He shared how difficult the beginnings were, and how much effort and patience were needed. He also spoke about the results of that work—how steady dedication over time can bring lasting impact.

Rabbi Gurary also shared very meaningful stories from yechidus and personal meetings he had with the Rebbe.

The farbrengen was sponsored by Samuel Salfati, who also made a Siyum on several Masechtot.

Among those present was an active-duty IDF soldier, Atiyas. He shared that he completed the Tanya last year while serving in Syria, and previously during service in Gaza. That night, he concluded the Tanya and spoke briefly about the word Mokesh—“traps”—mentioned at the end of the Tanya. He connected it to his real-life work of identifying and neutralizing traps, and how this idea applies both physically and spiritually.

The farbrengen continued late into the night and was clearly appreciated by all who attended. The gathering reflected the growing energy of North Crown Heights and the desire to strengthen Jewish life in this area through learning, tefillah, and meaningful gatherings.

The Lincoln Place Shul, led by Rabbi Meyer Shushan, continues to serve the North Crown Heights community with regular Tefilos, Shiurim, and activities for men, women, and children throughout the year.
