Nominate a Cteen for a Yeshiva Scholarship Grant

Swaying a teen to defer college and attend a yeshiva is a feat. Getting their parents on board to pay for it is herculean.

Thanks to the generosity of the Meromim Foundation, the second step no longer requires super shliach powers.

Facilitated by CTeen, the Meromim Foundation will be granting 40 scholarships of $5,000 to be used towards yeshiva tuition.

After consulting with various shluchim and baalei teshuva yeshivas, CTeen decided to make these scholarships available on a merit-basis, with teens nominated by their shluchim.

Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, CTeen’s chairman, finds that yeshiva attendance provides the greatest nachas. “B”H, CTeen’s yeshiva alumni are in shidduchim. Some of them have even applied to become CTeen shluchim themselves.”

Process and Timeline:

Nominations must be done ASAP, since teens are currently planning (or already finalized their plans) for next year.

For a teen to receive this voucher, they would need to apply to one of the programs listed on CTeen.com/edu before 23 Iyar, May 5.

Once the teen is accepted to a yeshiva, CTeen will send the check directly to the yeshiva.

“Teens often surprise us with their willingness to take a gap year,” explains Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Vice Chairman of CTeen.  “Let’s try to get as many teens as possible to make that decision and be gorem tremendous nachas ruach to the Rebbe.”

Zach Horowitz from Wilmington, DE believes that going to yeshiva after CTeen was the best decision he’s ever made: “Yeshiva allowed me to dig deep into myself and discover the depth and beauty of my soul. I am forever grateful that I took the leap!”

Sydney Winnower from CTeen Dix Hills will never forget her year of seminary: “That year changed my life forever and if I could do it again, I would do it in a heartbeat.”

“Going to learn in Israel was a no-brainer,” claims Brocha Weimer, a former CTeener from Newton, MA. “Surrounding myself with like-minded Jews from all over the world, learning from the best educators, classes tailored towards me and my interests — it was an opportunity that I could not pass on. I’m so grateful for every minute of it!”

Cteen is a division of Merkos 302 – the backbone organization of the Rebbe’s Shluchim.
