Niggun of the Rebbe Sung at Chief Rabbi’s Funeral

At the levaya of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, Rabbi Lionel Rosenfeld sang the Rebbe’s niggun ‘Tzama Lecha Nafshi’ and explained Rabbi Sacks’ attachment to it.

Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, was buried in a small ceremony on Sunday, in a service attended by 30 people, in accordance with government Covid guidelines.

During one of the eulogies, Rabbi Lionel Rosenfeld, senior rabbi of the Western Marble Arch Synagogue said that Rabbi Sacks was once asked what song would you want take with you to an uninhabited island if only one song was allowed? Rabbi Sacks replied he would choose the tune Tzama Lcha Nafshi.

I hope one day something like that would by my epitaph,” Rabbi Sacks said.
