From before the Rebbe formally became Rebbe until 1963, the Rebbe would officiate weddings of Chassidim. Presented here, from JEM, are a collection of newly published films from weddings at which the Rebbe officiated.
The first clip shows the Rebbe at a wedding in 5709. This wedding was at Gold Manor Hall in Brooklyn, before the Rebbe initiated a policy that he would only attend a Chuppah held at 770.
The following clip is from 10 years following, in 5719, at a Chuppah held in the “Shalash” – courtyard of 770. The final clip, in beautiful color, is from the final wedding the Rebbe officiated, of Rabbi Shmuel and Hindy Lew (Jaffee) in 5723, at the front entrance of 770. Though formally suspending the practice of officiating weddings some 3 years prior, an exception was made for this couple.
The videos were published as a memento from the Nakki-Azulay Wedding, Chof Kislev 5783
